Too Much, Too Fast

For all the Emma and Mia fans out there, we're sorry it's been a while since our last post.  The girls had a couple scary incidents late last week resulting in 911 calls and trips to Children's Hospital. They are doing just fine, but the four of us have been at Children's Hospital since Friday night . Their move home may have just happened a bit too quickly. Their due date really isn't until April 11, so especially until then, we'll need to take everything very slowly.

The doctors believe they're having a little trouble with reflux related to their feedings.  We're trying a combination of reflux medication, new vented bottles to help them pace themselves, smaller amounts of food more often, and sleep positioners that prop them up on an incline.  They were observed all weekend, and Mia will have a swallow study tomorrow.  Emma may or may not have one. One thing for sure is that we won't leave here until we're comfortable with them being at home. Mom and Dad can't handle any more scary episodes like they had!

Despite being in a hospital again and hooked up to monitors, the girls are very happy and content. They are propped up on thrones like little princesses.  They're both eating and growing. The doctors have all commented on how strong and healthy they are, and the nurses fight over who gets to take care of them. So they're being spoiled.  

Thanks for all of you for your support and offers to bring us food or help in other ways.  We really appreciate it!  We'll make a note on the blog when we know more about when we'll be home. 

We want to give a HUGE thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Lund who have been with us since the girls came home. They have been lifesavers throughout this ordeal by keeping us as sane as possible and taking care of the house. It's been quite a relief to have them with us in Seattle.
