That's the time it took Emma to polish off her bottle this afternoon, give or take 30 seconds. It was quite impressive and very encouraging. Mia also took her entire bottle. Both girls are drinking 40 ml and gaining weight nicely. The nurses started fortifying their milk with a tiny bit of formula to give them some extra calories. Emma is up to 4 lbs, 8 oz, closing in on her birth weight. Mia now weighs 4 lbs, 6.6oz, which is past her birth weight, and it only took her 10 days. (2 weeks is the goal.)
Emma was the most alert we've seen her when we arrived this afternoon. Dressed in her new purple onesie she was looking out the window, and waving her arms and legs. She was excited for her bottle, but as soon as she chugged it down, she was out and slept until her next feeding.
Mia is off her IV and has more freedom to move around now likes she loves to do. She is constantly grabbing our fingers, her blanket, or anything in sight (i.e. her feeding tube).
Both girls have the cutest expressions on their face when they sleep. They smile a lot and stick their tongues out. They are so much fun and hard to leave every night.
