Hot Wheels

Nanny Janny pulls us around the backyard in the brand new wagon she got us. 

NJ visited from Olympia and brought her gardening tools with her to spruce up our yard. Mom and Dad sure are lucky to have her help with that.  And we're lucky because she's making our yard a more fun place for us to play this summer. 

It was a nice, warm weekend - perfect for riding around in our new wheels.  We had a great time cruising up and down the block in front of our house, and then in the backyard, too. Thanks, Nanny Janny!

Easter Sunday

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! While technically this wasn't the girls' first Easter (they were in the hospital last year), it was sort of another "first" for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. The excitement and joy on the girls' faces is just priceless. We feel very lucky!

Grandma & Grandpa's House!

We decided it would be nice to get away for a weekend, and spend Easter with family. And after being spoiled by last weekend's sunny weather, it was one more reason to head east of the mountains.

The girls were troopers during the long car ride. Although shy upon arrival, they quickly warmed up to Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Pete, and took off exploring the house.

One car was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa, and it's been the only toy they fight over. They LOVE the freedom or standing and walking on their own with it. One of their friends from school, Sam, let them borrow his, so we brought them both for the girls to play with over the weekend. There is a lot more space at Grandma and Grandpa's house, so they had a great time cruising around.


On Saturday the girls wore their "Hanford Baby" shirts - gifts from the Bunch family. We rarely dress the girls exactly alike; they usually wear different colors - and we realized how hard it's getting to telling them apart! I know I have the right labels for the photos below, at least.

Emma loved "picking" flowers (i.e. grabbing bunches at a time). She gave this one to Mama. How sweet!

Mia was fascinated with the flowers. She likes to examine things closely and pay attention to the details. And she won't eat green vegetables, but why not a green flower stem?

The Sun Comes to Ballard

Grammy came to visit this weekend from San Diego, and brought the nice weather with her!

On Saturday, the four of us girls went out to lunch and shopping. The girls just love dining out and are so well-behaved. As long as we can keep all the silverware away from them, we're in good shape. Grammy even let them try some ice cream for dessert! It was a hit, as you can imagine.

Then on Sunday, the five of us (the girls + Daddy) got reacquainted with our neighborhood. We took a long walk around Ballard - first to the Locks, then down to Shilshole. We stopped for a late lunch at Anthony's, and lucked out with a table by the water.

We're not used to the sunshine and are going to have to incorporate sunscreen application for the girls into our routine. They're also going to have to get used to wearing hats, which only Emma will tolerate at this point.

March Madness

We're experiencing our own version of March Madness this month which explains my lack of posts:
- 1 marketing campaign launch for a new product (Have you tried Starbucks VIA yet?)
- 10 days of the flu for the girls and Mom combined
- 2 days (+ several more to come) of the real March Madness baskteball tournament (Go Huskies! They play in the second round on Saturday.)

Seen & Heard this month:

- Emma standing up on her own for a few seconds at a time - first without realizing it, and now doing it on purpose and getting very excited.
- Mia breaking through the living room blockade to free she and her sister to chase each other around the dining room and kitchen.
- Emma digging into fried rice at friend Kamila's 1st birthday party.
- Mia carefully picking up one piece of food at a time and throwing it off her high chair in protest.
- Emma kicking off her shoe the instant it's on her foot.
- Mia closely examining each toy with precision, sometimes preferring the on/off switch to the toy itself.
- Emma and Mia being very patient while running errands with Mom and Dad to really fun places like H&R Block, Kinko's, Target, and Safeway.
- Daddy and the girls going for a walk to give Mom some free time at home, and stopping at Starbucks for a treat of banana bread.
- Both girls making "mama" sounds; not necessarily in reference to me, but it still feels good to hear.
- Both girls crawling around the house, chasing each other - and they're FAST! Diaper Derby race, anyone?
- Nurse Linda making a return to graciously watch the girls while they were home one day and Mom and Dad had to work.
- At least 3 days of snow so far...it is March, isn't it?!
- Exciting news that THREE of our friends are expecting baby #2 this fall! Anyone else we should know about?

All that, and we still have 11 more days in the month!
