Em & M's Birthday Bash

Emma & Mia had a wonderful 2nd birthday celebration at Gymboree, with lots of family and friends. They sang, danced, tumbled, bounced, dribbled and jumped. A 2-year old's dream!

Daycare friends Sam L. Sam P., Greg, Jack, Rowan and Catherine came to the party, as well as lots of our friends' kids: Jack & Emmett, Hailey & Conner, Harper, Cole, Casious, Kamila, and Lucy.

Family included: Mom & Dad, Grammy, Grandma Donna & Papa, Uncle Pete, Great Aunt Janny, Great Aunt Carol Kay & Bob, cousins Debbie, Jake and David, Great Aunt Julie, cousins Eric, Val & Tyler.

Em & M loved the Hobby Horse. And it made for a great photo set.

Pre-Birthday ER Trip

One of our bedtime rituals is dancing in the girls' room. The girls do this every night, so we were probably bound for an incident. This particular night, Mia was jumping and dancing, and she jumped and fell down and hit the top of her cheek on her crib. She got a fairly deep gash, and while it wasn't gushing blood, we didn't want to take any chances.

Matt took her to the ER down the street in Ballard. They were there and back within 1/2 hour! Mia was so brave, got lots of attention from everyone, and the doctor even gave her a teddy bear. She was so proud to show off her bandage and teddy bear to Emma and me. She was also in good enough spirits to try on her tiara.

Fire Station 18's Open House

This weekend the fire stations held open houses for kids, so we stopped by our local Ballard station. We arrived around naptime, so it was a quick visit. But we snapped a few pics. The girls also made it on www.myballard.com web site's recap of the event.

Mia checks out the light, while Emma tries to climb up.

The lights were pretty cool.

Potty Time

Each day we get a full report from daycare on the girls' day, including whether or not the girls tried to use - or successfully used - the potty. We haven't really started pushing it at home yet; we're letting daycare take the lead. Might as well get our money's worth, right?!

To date, Emma had tried to use it once. But yesterday, when Matt picked her up and read her report, it said she had a dry diaper because she actually used the potty! Way to go, Emma!!

So far Mia has shown no interest. But between peer pressure at daycare (it's seems to be a good thing at this age), and watching her sister, she'll come around soon enough. No rush. As long as she gets there before she starts kindergarten, we're in good shape.
